The Design Process |
|
However, I know the importance of planning this in detail so that we do not waste your time and hard earned money. That’s where a web site planner comes in handy. Without planning first, your web site can become a disaster There are several steps we go through before completing your web site:
Planning and StrategyI start the process by having you fill out a 'Website Planner' . This allows me to gather information about your company or your personal requirements, services, audience, purpose, site goals and more. The website planner will also give you a full outlook of how you see your web site, and how I find out your objectives and goals for your project. I give you as much time as you need to review the website planner and answer all of the questions asked. The Website Planner can be found here: Client Website planner - Word version If you do not have a a version of MS Word installed on your pc, you can download the latest version of Ms Word viewer here. Client Website planner - PDF version If you do not have a pdf reader installed on your pc, you can download the latest version of Adobe Reader here.
Website Design ProposalOnce I receive your completed Website Planner back, I use the information in it to help me put together a plan and proposal for your approval.
Agreements/DepositsIf my proposal for your web site development is accepted, I will require a deposit (50% of the cost). Along with an invoice, I will send you a contract. The contract will state the total cost of your requirements, terms and agreement, and other miscellaneous items.
Domain Name RegistrationIf you purchase a web design package from us your domain name (.co.uk) is included in the price for the first year. Please refer to the links on the left for Domain Name registrations , information and costs.
Collecting Your MaterialsNow is the time to start collecting materials for your site. Anything that you can provide to help me design your web site will help. This includes, but is not limited to; brochures, business cards, and photos of your business. If you’re selling products, I will probably need photos, product weight, and cost. The more information and materials with which you provide me, the quicker your project will be completed and the better the overall results.
Mockup Sites and Sample LayoutsI will put together some mock web sites and designs for you to critique and discuss. This will be based on information you supplied to me in your web planner At this point we're trying to narrow down exactly what you're looking for in terms of design and layout. Your feedback is essential in the web design process and is welcome at any time.
Working with MaterialsResizing photos, photo optimization, color sampling (for those who want to match a corporate color to their site design), product weight and pictures, and similar tasks are all done during this phase of the web design process.
Establishing Project Design, Look and FeelBased on your feedback from the mock-up site(s) and your planner, a design is established and used for your web site.
ContentStarting with your home page, I will start building your web site. After this is completed and approved I will move on and start placing content into your web site.
Scripting and DatabasesIf you requested any special scripting (contact forms, feedback forms, photo galleries, message books, databases, reservation systems, etc.) I will integrate the scripting into your web site.
Web Site Completion and DebuggingAfter you have reviewed the web site, and everything is in correct order, I will start by reviewing the site. I will check web site load time, browser testing, resolution testing and the overall optimal performance of your site.
Site goes "Live"Your site is published for the world to see! You can now start advertising your web site: tell friends, business acquaintances and publish print material with your web site address.
Site Optimization and Online MarketingYour site is optimised so that I can correctly market your web site. I will use the keywords and descriptions of your site that you have given me in your planner. I will then start by submitting your web site to search engines and do any other web site promotion services that you requested.
ConclusionAt this point, you have a site that is live, seen by the major search engines and is achieving what your goals are. I will monitor your site based on our agreed terms and will help to ensure that your site is working for you. I will also request the remaining cost of the website package and any sundry items. Additionally, if things go wrong on your side or you need advice or assistance, always remember I am only a call, email or text away in helping you resolve the issues at hand. |
